MetLife is the biggest provider of life insurance products in America by market value. The company was established in 1868 and serves more than 91 million clients around the world.

Prudential Financial ranked second in the list. It is also the biggest life insurance provider in America by admitted assets and the 2nd largest by net premiums written. It offers a wide array of products and services through the following subsidiaries: PGIM, U.S.Workplace Solutions, U.S. Individual Solutions, International Insurance, and Closed Block.

The Prudential companies provide term life and universal life insurance, variable life insurance, variable and fixed annuities, pension and retirement products as well as group life and group disability insurance, group insurance for small businesses and more. In 2011, Prudential completed the acquisition of AIG Star Life and AIG Edison Life company.
