Prudential Financial is the largest life insurance company in America by assets and insurance in force, and the second-largest by net premiums written. Established in 1875, it provides a full array of insurance products and financial services to individual and corporate customers in more than countries around the world including North and South America, European countries and Asia. The company reported revenue of $60 billion, net income of $7.8 billion, total assets of $815 billion and total equity of $54 billion. The assets under management equal approximately $1.4 trillion. It is based in Newark and employs about 50,000 staff.

MetLife, headquartered in New York, is the 2nd largest life insurer in America by assets and the largest by direct insurance premiums. With 49,000 employees, it is also one of the leading providers of annuities and employee benefit programs. In 2018 it recorded net income of $4 billion, revenue of $62 billion, assets of $693 billion and total equity of $59 billion. As of May 17, 2019, Metlife had a market capitalization of $45 billion. New York Life is one the leading mutual insurance companies and the third biggest insurer in the country by assets. It has assets under management of $600 billion and surplus and AVR of approximately $26 billion. Operating income was $2.1 billion in 2017.
